Internet Explorer fixes to play Archived Files
The following are known fixes to resolve issues with Internet Explorer (IE). FenMark does not guarintee or warrant that the fixes below will
resolve issues with IE; use at your own risk.

First, if there is a network administrator for your company, then please do not implement any of the fixes below. Instead, please contact your administrator to report any issues with IE.

Fix 1: Please verify that ADOBE Shockwave IE pluggin is installed on your computer. Click on the following
link to verify ADOBE Shockwave IE pluggin is installed, Click here to test!
If ADOBE Shockwave is not installed, then click on the approprate download button.

Fix 2: If fix 1 above did not allow the videos to play, then make the following change to the registry. Click on the start
button and in the search field type in the word, regedit, and click on regedit.exe at the top of the search window. This will open the register edit
program. Look for the folder HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and click on the triangle to expand the folder. Scroll down to the folder named '.wmv'
(without the single quotes) and click on it. On the right side of the window look for the name 'some_name.backup'. Where 'some_name'
may be any named program such as VLC.backup.
If you see a backup, then goto Fix 2a below, if not, then goto Fix 2b below.
Fix 2a: Double click on the name 'some_name.backup' and type in the editing window 'WMP11.AssocFile.WMV' (without the single quotes) and press the
enter key. Verify you typed the correct name. It must appear exactly like the following between the single quotes; 'some_name.backup
REG_SZ WMP11.AssocFile.WMV' . You must have the capital letters in the exact same manner. Now, look for the name 'Content Type'. If you do not find it,
then create it by doing the following:
First, click on the file .wmv to highlight it;
Second, on the tool bar click on 'Edit', then select 'New' and
click on 'String Value'. Now type in the highlighted box the words 'Content Type' (without the single quotes) and press the enter key. Double click on the
new entry 'Content Type' and type in the editing window 'video/x-ms-wmv' (without the single quotes) and press the enter key. Verify you typed
the correct name. Is must appear exactly like the following between the single quotes; 'Content Type REG_SZ video/x-ms-wmv' . You
must have the capital letters in the exact same manner. If you find you need to change your entry just double click on the approprate Name such as
'Content Type' and make the approprate changes. Now skip to the last paragraph to save and exit.
Fix 2b: Double click on the name '(Default)' and type in the editing window 'WMP11.AssocFile.WMV' (without the single quotes) and press
the enter key. Verify you typed in the correct name. It must appear exactly like the following between the single quotes;
'(Default) REG_SZ WMP11.AssocFile.WMV' . You must have the capital letters in the exact same manner. Now, look for the name 'Content Type'.
If you do not find it, then create it by doing the following:
First, click on the file .wmv to highlight it;
Second, on the tool bar click on 'Edit', then select 'New'
and click on 'String Value'. Now type in the highlighted box the words 'Content Type' (without the single quotes) and press the enter key. Double click on
the new entry 'Content Type' and type in the editing window 'video/x-ms-wmv' (without the single quotes) and press the enter key. Verify you typed
the correct name. Is must appear exactly like the following between the single quotes; 'Content Type REG_SZ video/x-ms-wmv'. You
must have the capital letters in the exact same manner. If you find you need to change your entry just double click on the approprate Name such as
'Content Type' and make the approprate changes.
Save and exit; close the window. Now you must re-start the computer to test and
verify the archived videos play.
Fix 3: If IE still will not play the videos, then it is recomended you install a different more stable browser. Please see
below for links to install an excelent free alternet browser.
